CopyHop doesn’t collect data about you. There are no accounts, no analytics, no crash reports and no ads. Your Clips stay on your devices and in your own iCloud.
What CopyHop stores
CopyHop keeps your Clips on each device: the content you copied, when you copied it, which device it came from and, on the Mac, which app. On iPhone and iPad the app, the keyboard and the share extension share that store on the device. Nothing in it is sent to us.
Sync
With Sync on, Clips are saved to the private database of your iCloud account using Apple’s CloudKit. Apple stores that data under its own privacy policy. Developers can’t read private iCloud databases, so we can’t see your Clips.
When CopyHop connects to the internet
- iCloud
- To sync Clips between your devices, as described above.
- Your local network
- CopyHop finds your other devices on the same network and sends Clips to them directly. Each transfer is authenticated, so only your devices take part. Your Mac and iPhone will ask for permission to use the local network.
- Link previews
- When you copy a link, CopyHop loads that page to get its title and thumbnail. The site sees a request from your device, the same as if you’d opened the link.
- Licence check
- When you enter a Pro Licence, the Mac app sends the Licence key and an identifier for that Mac to Lemon Squeezy, which sells CopyHop for us, to confirm it’s valid. When you buy Pro, Lemon Squeezy handles your name, email address and payment under its own privacy policy.
- Updates
- The Mac app checks copyhop.app for new versions using Sparkle. The request says which version you’re running and nothing about you or your Clips.
What CopyHop doesn’t do
It doesn’t include analytics, telemetry, crash reporting or advertising. It doesn’t sell or share data, and there’s no CopyHop account to sign in to.
Clips CopyHop won’t capture
CopyHop skips anything copied from password managers like 1Password, Bitwarden and LastPass, and anything from apps or URLs you’ve excluded. Those copies never become Clips.
The iPhone keyboard
The keyboard asks for Full Access so it can read your Clips from storage shared with the CopyHop app. It doesn’t record or send what you type.
This website
copyhop.app uses no cookies and no analytics. It’s hosted on Cloudflare, which may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, for security.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top and mention it in the changelog.
